In a kid's choir as well as at an annual vacation that featured karaoke, Alaina sang her first shows in public. The singer sang in any 30 mile radius, which included places of worship, family meals and restaurants occasions. Alaina was 8 years old when she was crowned the winner of in the Southern Stars Pageant's talent contest. She was chosen to sing on the Kids Talent stage of Chattanooga's Riverbend Festival. She traveled across the country to Orlando, Florida, when she was ten years old to compete with the American Model and Talent Competition. She beat out over 1,500 kids to win the competition. Alaina performed in Georgia's Country Gospel Music Association's kids' chorus. The first time she visited Nashville was at the age of 12. She played in Tootsie's, a local bar that was located on Broadway. Alaina won the title of the first winning Lake Winnepesaukah's WinniSTAR Youth Talent Contest in 2009. She composed and performed many songs, which included Leaving the House, and set Me Free, as well. Alaina started singing when her friend Holly Witherow who had been diagnosed with a tumor on the brain. This inspired her. Alaina had worked at CiC's Pizza prior to her becoming a part of Idol. She graduated from Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe Senior High School, which is located in Fort Oglethorpe Georgia.
